In device manager multimedia audio controller has a yellow question mark against it. It says no drivers installed (code 28) Tried reinstalling them but says cannot find. I do not know how to find what driver we need. I assume that this is the reason we have no sound.

now necessity has dictated that i install xp, which i have done. the xp works good, except for one thing. there is no sound. a quick investigation revealed a yellow question mark in device manager. a screenshot is provided that shows this. naturally i tried to get drivers for "multimedia audio controller", but none was offered that i could see.

I did backed all my data into external drive, went thru the things which are needed to get prepare for a new clean install and then formatted my drive and re-installed the XP SP2.
