Opinions on the Zaph Audio ZRT Revelator Towers

The ZRT as slightly more detailed with slightly better articulated bass, (IMO). I can't say I agree with the negative comment about bass dynamics. I find these very good. I drive the speakers with a Pass Labs X150.5 and they sound terrific. I doubt you could find better commercially made speakers for 2-3 time the cost of DIY. venpick 9 posts

I was put on to Zaph Audio's 'ZRT' Revelator Towers by Madisound's kit for those speakers. Zaph's very comprehensive web pages for these speakers satisfied me they just might be up to my DIY goal of replacing my Maggies. The ZRT designs were for both 2-way and 2.5 way speakers. See Madisound's ZRT 2-way kit page Also see Zaph Audio's ZRT web page.

I have graciously taken the design by Zaph Audio for the ZRT 2.5, but added some layout changes. Formost, I have taken his baffle design for the MD38T cabinet offered by madisound and applied it to the 65L ported design.

Re: Zaph Audio ZRT 2 way Revelator Tower, Opinions? We heard it at the InDIYana event. Very nice, but the system did require tweaking in the bass alignment and XO (less BSC), since the woofer specs have changed somewhat since the original design was put out. I saw that mentioned in the DIY notes and was curious about it.
Zaph / Madisound ZRT 2.5 Problem | diyAudio

I don't see any inherent problem in Zaph's vented ZRT 2.5-Way design. The horizontal dispersion plot even looks perfectly balanced. Well done, Zaph! The woofer filter has indeed to deal with a strong resonance at 1.5 kHz. An RC (60 uF in series with 5 ohm or 2x10 ohm) is used to damp that resonance.

After going back and forth for a month or so deciding what to build, we decided on the Zaph ZRT 2 ways. We wanted a project that we wouldn’t immediately want to update from, had a good portion of the costs come from drivers, had good documentation, and …

Reviews on the net all are extremely positive with numerous people comparing them to 5+ figure speaker systems. My asking price for local pickup is $1,000. I'm willing to ship but would need some time to package them up properly. If you're interested contact me for a shipping quote but expect anywhere from $75-100 for shipping costs.
